Degrees and Certifications:

Ms. Nicole Musto

Ms. Musto is currently a 7th grade reading and 9th grade English teacher at Leechburg Area Jr./Sr. High School. She earned her bachelor of science degree in education from Indiana University of Pennsylvania in fall 2007 where she held a dual-major in secondary English education and Spanish. Ms. Musto only took one semester off before enrolling at IUP as a graduate student. In summer 2010, she earned her master of literacy degree and reading specialist certification.

Ms. Musto began her career with the Leechburg Area School District at the beginning of the 2009–2010 school year and worked as a full-time tutor under the State-funded Educational Assistance Program (EAP). Due to State budget cuts in public education, Ms. Musto's position was eliminated at the conclusion of the 2012 school year.

During her time as a furloughed employee, she continued to work as a day-to-day substitute for the District and with her K–12 library media specialist certification, she was able to fulfill a long-term substitute position for the elementary librarian from December 2012 to April 2013.

Ms. Musto was permanently recalled for the 2013–2014 school year for the Title I Program at David Leech Elementary, for which she served as a reading specialist for grades K–3.

Considering her love of literature, Ms. Musto is eager to dive into books with her students this year. Her long-range goal is to pursue her Ph.D. to teach literature and women's studies at the collegiate level.
