SUPERINTENDENT MESSAGE 1/13/2022

1/13/2022

Good Morning.  I have a couple of important announcements for you.

First, please be reminded that Monday, January 17 is an in-service day for staff.  This means that the students are off.

Second, the school board voted on an amended Health and Safety Plan last night.  The new plan, in its entirety, is included in this email.  If you open the attachment, you will see that the changes are highlighted in red.  I have also attached what I call a cheat sheet to make it much easier for you to understand what is important to families.  You will see that it has been updated to follow all new CDC guidelines and changes have been made to quarantining guidelines if a person was exposed AT SCHOOL If a person was exposed outside of the school by someone in the home or in an outside location, 5 day quarantine rules still apply.

As per the new school board approved health and safety plan, there are added options for parents with asymptomatic students who have been exposed at school:

If You Were Exposed to Someone with COVID-19

If you:

Completed the primary series of Pfizer or Moderna vaccine over 6 months ago and are not boosted
OR
Completed the primary series of J&J over 2 months ago and are not boosted
OR
Are unvaccinated

Parent can chose:

  • Quarantine for 5 days and log in live for required classes. After that continue to wear a mask around others for 5 additional days.  OR
  • Continue to come to school but the student must wear a mask for 10 days.  OR
  • Test on day 5 if possible and then can return to school without a mask after the negative test result is reported to the school nurse.

If You Were Exposed to Someone with COVID-19

If you:

Have been boosted
OR
Completed the primary series of Pfizer or Moderna vaccine within the last 6 months
OR
Completed the primary series of J&J vaccine within the last 2 months

  • Wear a mask around others for 10 days.
  • Test on day 5, if possible.
  • No quarantine

This is all very confusing and still ever changing almost two years in.  We will continue to contact trace and notify parents when someone was a close contact.  Options will be explained when you get the call.  Our goal is to keep staff and students healthy while keeping them in school.  This choice was made to do just that.  If your child does start to have symptoms, please keep them home and quarantine for 5 days and/or their symptoms improve.

Please let us know if you have any questions.

Sincerely,

Tiffany Nix
