Junior High Girl's Physical Education:
This is a semester long course offered in both the fall and spring semesters for 7th and 8th grade students.
Cardiovascular Endurance: PACER Test
- At the beginning and end of each semester the students will be administered the Fitnessgram physical fitness assessment. Fitnessgram is a complete battery of health-related fitness tests designed to assess cardiovascular fitness, muscular strength, muscular endurance, flexibility, and body composition. These tests are scored using criterion-referenced standards which are age and gender specific and are established based on how fit children need to be for good health. The following is a list of the tests administered for each health-related fitness category:
Muscular Strength: Push Up Muscular Endurance: Abdominal Curl Up Flexibility: Back-Saver Sit and Reach Body Composition: Bioelectric Impedance Analyzer
- Students are expected to be prepared for physical activity each day they arrive to Physical Education unless they can provide a physician's note excusing them from physical activity. Students are to change into athletic clothing and footwear that follows the school dress code. Each student will be assigned a locker where they may store their Physical Education items. Locks will not be provided, although students are encouraged to bring a lock from home. Students receive a daily participation grade. If students do not change into athletic clothing or participate in class they will have an opportunity to complete an alternative assignment for partial credit. Students who are excused from physical activity with a physician's note must also complete the alternative assignment to earn their daily participation points.
