'Furry' flop simple, still gets laughs

“Furry Vengeance” is the story of a group of animals fighting developers who want to tear down their forest and put up a giant housing plan.
The movie starts as a large group of animals from the forest ambush one of the development company’s workers. As the movie progresses, Dan Sanders, the on-site developer played by Brendan Fraser (“The Mummy,” “Inkheart,”), is shown doing battle with the forest creatures, led by a wily raccoon and his family, which Sanders had moved to the middle of nowhere.
In addition to these already-fascinating characters, you get the greedy owner of the development company, played by Ken Jeong (“Knocked Up,” “The Hangover”), who is shown to be quite whiney and a “momma’s boy,” adding to the movie’s hilarity.
“Furry Vengeance” won’t impress anyone with a super intelligent plotline or a lot of high-brow humor, nor will the viewer be riveted to the screen by a lot of flashy action sequences. Some may consider the aforementioned to be deficiencies, but they actually allow for a simpler and funnier movie that anyone with a sense of fun can enjoy.
Unfortunately, this movie has gotten a very bad rap from my fellow movie reviewers and, by earning a mere $6.5 million on its opening weekend in theaters, has been labled a “flop.”
Overall, “Furry Vengeance” turned out to be a hilarious movie, which required nothing from the viewer but a willingness to laugh.
