Following the Burg's fashion Do's and Don'ts

We all have our personal fashion do's and don'ts. We know what we cannot stand about fashion and what we absolutely love. Fashion dos and don'ts vary from place to place, season to season and, maybe most importantly, personality.
Guys and Ladies, it's time to talk about the fashion Do’s and Don’ts of Leechburg, in spite of and maybe even ignoring dress code policies. Let's start out with some of Leechburg’s strong points when it comes to fashion.
When it comes to color coordination, we have it down pat. Here at Leechburg, we match everything from our headbands with our boots to our shirt with our shoes. As seen in the photos, senior Kiersten Horrell matches her black headband with her boots.
Next up is jewelry. And Leechburg students do it again. Mostly everywhere I look, I see people accessorizing with jewelry. I love jewelry and believe it is essential to every single outfit. Jewelry doesn't always have to be big shiny bling, however. Just one piece of jewelry, like a necklace or a pair of earrings, really does make the outfit. In the photo, junior Natalie Sulava’s wears one bracelet to enhance her outfit.
Style changes with the seasons. Obviously, we don't wear our short shorts in the winter. Colors of the outfits we wear also changes with the seasons. For the colder months, I notice that the students wear warmer colors. Beige, tan, burnt orange and burgundy are all common colors spotted throughout the school during fall and winter. As the weather starts to calm down during fall, this is the time when we should do the same to our wardrobes – calm it down with more subtle colors.
Now let's flip over to some of Leechburg points of concern. These tendencies are not hard to correct. They don't cost a great deal of money either. So what's there to lose.
Stripes, checks, plaid, animal prints and tie-dye are all wonderful pieces of clothing to wear. There is absolutely nothing wrong with wearing them . . . separately. There is something intrinsically wrong with wearing prints or patterns on both the top and bottom of an outfit. DON'T DO IT! Mismatching an outfit with two conflicting prints makes the outfit look too harsh and just completely ridiculous. Anyone with focused vision can see the fashion problem.
Okay, Leechburg. This next fashion Don’t may be the toughest one yet. What can really make an outfit look terrible no matter how expensive or coordinated it may be?
Let me help you out. Clothes must fit right. I can't even begin to tell you how many times I've walked down the hall seeing people in clothes that are either too tight or too loose. I understand that we all have our own style when it comes to how clothes fit. And that's not the problem. The problem occurs when a shirt only comes down to mid-torso or boys jeans are so loose that they are defying gravity staying up. And don’t even get me started on the “muffin top” created by too tight pants or skirts. Wear clothes that fit properly and that enhance the figure, not distort it.
Leechburg’s final fashion Don't is to AVOID wearing holiday colors and prints unless you are wearing them for the holiday. Most notably, do not wear bright green and red in the middle of March or any other time except around Christmas. Certain shades of holiday colors may be acceptable, however. For example, olive and burgundy can be paired without reminding people of Christmas. Still, those colors are more fall and winter colors rather than spring and summer ones.
So there you have it, Leechburg: the most fashionable do's and severe don'ts. If you are one who follows the do's of fashion, good job. Keep it up. If you are under the category of the don'ts, well, you have some work to do. But don't worry. Transforming your outfit won't cost any money. Just use what you already have to put together an outfit that won't offend the fashion rules, but more importantly, will flatter your figure and your personality.
