Although Spanish teacher Tricia Shank said any time she ever traveled to Spain would be considered her favorite trip, she has also been to Mexico, Canada, France, Germany, Morocco, Switzerland, Austria, Italy and Portugal. In fact, she enjoys traveling so much that the TV character she most identifies herself with is Dora, from “Dora the Explorer.”
She is a lover of both cats and dogs who wanted to be a veterinarian when she was a child, and no wonder – she was raised on a farm.
If it were okay to bribe teachers with anything except money, she said she would accept coffee.
You will not find her playing computer games because she said she is not coordinated well enough.
The celebrity she dislikes most is Regis Philbin because she thinks he’s an obnoxious old man.
When she was in high school, she participated in newspaper, color guard, Spanish Club and the swim team.
When she thinks of the future, she’s most afraid of how difficult life might be for her kids.
She believes the best band ever is The Beatles.
The household chore she detests most is dusting, but she doesn’t have to worry about dust under her bed because there, she says, you will find cats.
The movie she watches over and over is “Love Actually” because she enjoys its soundtrack, but right now her favorite song is “The Zoo” by the Scorpions because “it just gets you going.”
The movie line she regularly quotes is “You’re killing me, Smalls!” from “The Sandlot.”
The one thing she remembers her second grade teacher Mrs. Pati teaching her is cursive writing.
The places she enjoys shopping most are at outside markets in foreign countries.
That it is “wonderfully small” was her first impression of Leechburg.
The best gift she’s ever given was taking her son to Spain, but the best gift she’s ever received is her two sons.
Three things she would never do are smoke, be disrespectful and hurt her children.
To her, fresh air is the best smell in the world.
Her favorite color combination is pink and orange because “they’re happy together.”
She says the best thing about being a teacher is making a difference and the worst is not making a difference.
The thing about other drivers that annoys her the most is road rage. She hates to see “the whipping of the finger out the window.”
She says the best thing she can cook, bake, grill or fry is cream cheese chicken.
When it comes to eating food, her guilty pleasure is Big Macs, her favorite dessert is “Death by Chocolate,” the oddest thing she’s ever eaten is meat Jello and she won’t eat ham because of its texture.
If she opened up her handbag right now and showed you the contents, you would see a wallet, gift cards, a cell phone, coupons and family photos.
Her pet peeve is negativity; positive people inspire her.
“Considerate,” “absent-minded” and “well-intended” are the three adjectives she says best describe her.
Her favorite quote is “Nobody can make you feel inferior without your consent” by Eleanor Roosevelt.
The fictional character she admires most is House from the TV show of the same name because “he says whatever he thinks and lives with it.”
If she could leave right now and travel anywhere in the world, we would find her on the beach in Spain, under an umbrella, drinking a frothy drink.
Her most unusual talent is her ability to twirl pens.
Her best day of the week is Thursday because she’s excited about the upcoming weekend.
The next thing she wants to accomplish is getting her PhD.
When asked to finish a statement that begins with the words “I am...,” she said, “I am fine with 40. It’s just a number.”
