Girls' varsity basketball: Brady era ends

When the girls’ varsity basketball season ended, senior Anne Brady reflected on the season: “The strongest it’s ever been.” The team faced many struggles this season which ultimately brought the girls together, she said.

“Our biggest struggle all season was battling through injuries,” Brady said. “We only had eight varsity girls to begin with, so when someone was injured, everyone else had to step it up.”

Junior Paula McCorkle added, “We really started to improve on these struggles, and we definitely looked like a much better team.”

Not only did the girls say goodbye to the Brady, the only senior on the team, but they also said goodbye to their coach, Sarah Brady Cuffia.

“I am going to miss Coach Brady a lot,” McCorkle said. “She has been my coach since freshman year and it’s really going to feel strange playing next season without her coaching us. She never yelled at us because we were losing. She only got angry when she knew we could win but we weren’t playing up to our level.”

“I’m definitely going to miss having my sister as my coach,” Anne Brady said. “We spent four years together, and I wouldn’t trade it for anything. We shared so many memories that it’s too hard to choose just one.”
