From the Editor’s Desk:

Welcome back to TrottyVeck.com

As the new editor in chief and fearless leader of the TrottyVeck staff, I would like to extend a hearty welcome back to all of the students, teachers and other viewers of our newspaper.

Last year marked a new era for the TrottyVeck when we launched our online version in January. While all of the website’s content was not perfect, we believe our site was a general success that offered a newspaper to our school community using today’s technology. Our initial goal was to revive the TrottyVeck to a regularly updated publication in order to provide a more interesting, informative and entertaining way for students and teachers to become more involved in school happenings. We wanted to create a vehicle through which readers could find out all of the important (and not so important) LAHS news.

This year, I hope that the TrottyVeck will continue to grow behind a much larger staff and a full year ahead. Also, I will give my personal best effort to bring the best and most interesting stories to the table. (Watch out, Feather!)

Several blogs and columns are returning, and others will be added or changed. We plan to beef up our sports reporting and involve more students through polls and surveys. You readers are always invited to offer your opinions on any of our content through our “Comment” link at the end of all items. In general, I hope the whole TrottyVeck staff can make this a fulfilling year for our readers and a maturing year for our website as we continue to grow so that we can reach our goal as one of the top online high school newspapers.

For those of you who were wondering, The Feather is an online newspaper from a Christian school in Fresno, Calif., that is consistently ranked among the top online newspapers in the country by the National Scholastic Press Association. Christian school or not, The Feather was inspirational almost every step of the way as we planned to launch the TrottyVeck site. One goal during my tenure as the TrottyVeck leader is to be ranked right up there with the best.

Lastly, if you have any ideas for my blog or a story you would like to see in the paper, feel free to catch me in the hallway or to send me an email. Thank you for all of your support and interaction with the website. I look forward to a great year for the Trottyveck.
