Classless Graham 'breaks up' with Pitt football via text

Pitt has been on a search for coaches since last season. The university fired Dave Wannstedt after that year and hired Mike Haywood from the University of Miami (Ohio). Haywood was fired two weeks later after being charged with domestic violence for allegedly beating his wife. The athletic department then hired Todd Graham away from Tulsa and thought the school gad snagged a great head coach.
Upon his hiring in January 2011, Graham preached that he would be committed to Pitt for a long time and would help turn the program around. He also stressed that loyalty and commitment would help this program return to its winning ways.
So it came as a surprise when Graham abruptly resigned from Pitt on Dec. 14, less than a year after he was hired, to accept the head coaching position at Arizona State University. How abrupt, you ask? Graham let the team know that he had bailed via text message. When he was in Arizona.
I may not be an expert on ethics, but that move just doesn't seem right. What coach tells his team he is leaving via text message? When he is already at his destination in Arizona?
Earlier in the week Pitt's players and athletic department personnel couldn't contact Graham. So, they sent Graham's assistant coach to Graham's house to determine if he even still existed. And Graham was there all right seeing as he kicked the coach off his property. Merry Christmas!
Graham is now even more hated in Pittsburgh than Osama bin Laden, and rightfully so. A man who bails on his program and tells the players who trusted him deserves to bear the title of scumbag. Later that week Graham said that he wanted a face-to-face meeting on the weekend. When an anonymous player heard that Graham wanted to meet with the players, he replied, "Graham better wear body armor to this meeting." Oh, the holiday spirit!
I may not be a Pitt fan, but the way Graham left the program really disgusts me. A coach is a person whom players trust, a person they can count on to help solve all their problems on and off the field. Graham's running from Pitt, in my opinion, shows the he never really cared for his players. This jerk was only in it for the money. Why else would he leave a program that he promised to turn around for another program? This whole debacle has me shaking my head in disbelief. What a creep.
