Welcome to the reinvention of the TrottyVeck online. We’re grateful you’ve given us a chance to inform, entertain and serve the Leechburg Area High School community.
Although we’re still in the process of “tweaking” the look and content of our publication, we know that task is a never-ending one. Our readers are one of our most valuable resources and we plan to rely on our readers – students, staff and even other guests – to help guide our content and focus. Simply stated, we plan to evolve in response to our readers.
Therefore, we look forward to hearing from you, our readers, whether your communication is in the form of a comment, a letter, a vote in a poll or even an entry in a contest. We may be the TrottyVeck staff, but the student “newspaper” belongs to the whole student body. We invite all who maintain an interest in the Leechburg school community to participate in our new endeavor.
Every story will display a “comment” link at the bottom and we encourage our readers to offer responsible comments about the article or issues related to the article. The comments will be posted below the articles after they are read and approved for publication.
General “Letters to TrottyVeck” are also welcome. Perhaps you have a story idea, a general comment about our publication, a question or some other type of communication that is not a direct comment about a specific article. Just use the “Contact” link on the bottom right in the TrottyVeck info box to generate your email.
Remember, however, that in accordance with school policy for student expression, free speech may not be used to disrupt the educational process or interfere with the rights of others. Written views of anyone who sends a comment must be responsible, be in good taste and be free from character assassination before they will be considered for publication.
These letter and comment guidelines do not mean that we will publish only positive comments about our articles. All opinions, both positive and negative, are welcome. They should simply be written as fairly as possible without malicious intent. When in doubt, apply the “Golden Rule.”
A comment or a “Letter to TrottyVeck” must be “signed” with the author’s first and last name. Its authenticity will be checked before it is published. Letters and comments should also include a valid email address. Both letters and comments will be edited for errors and occasionally for length without distorting the content. Names on comments or letters could be withheld, but only when the author can show that withholding the name would be vital to his or her best interest. However, a letter must still be signed when sent.
We know you’re out there in the vast cyberspace. Let us know what’s on your mind, what you like and dislike about our content, what you’d like to see covered in this publication, what will hold your interest. We’re waiting to hear from you.
