A message from the principal
Dear Students and Staff Members,
The Founding Fathers of our country valued the right of free speech for all citizens. In order to ensure that a citizen’s right to free speech was protected, these brave men included it in the First Amendment to the United States Constitution. This amendment prohibits the Congress from infringing on freedom of speech and freedom of the press.
Our school newspaper gives each of you a voice. You can become a member of the newspaper staff and report on important issues that concern the students in Leechburg. You can also read the articles and state your opinion in a letter to the editor.
I appreciate all the hard work and effort that has gone into the development of our school newspaper. Many hours of work behind the scenes occurred to get the newspaper articles written, typed, and ready for print. Photographers took pictures of events in our school. Teacher advisers helped to coordinate this project and get it ready to be placed online.
A community is stronger when each citizen takes an active role to make it a better place. I encourage you to share your thoughts during classroom meetings and let your teachers know what needs to be done to make our school a safer place where everyone is respected and valued for his/her similarities and differences. We really do value your thoughts and ideas!
Sincerely,
Dr. Cynthia Portman, K-12 Principal
